Brenda Greer Obituary

Brenda Banks Greer, 65, of Johnson City, entered into rest on February 24, 2026. Born on October 2, 1960, in Johnson City, Tennessee, she was the cherished daughter of the late David William and Ruby Kinley Banks. Brenda was a radiant beacon of light in the lives of those around her, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by 2 brothers, David and Colon Banks, and a sister, Patty Banks, as well as her beloved granddaughter, Kacy Greer.

Brenda's life was one marked by devotion to her family and community, warmth, and unwavering kindness. She leaves behind her devoted husband of 24 years, Dean Greer, her daughter, Natalie Newton (Stacy), her step-children, Caitlin Miles (Breck), Tyler Greer, and Josh Greer (Jess). Brenda's sister, Rita Snodgrass, her brothers, Larry Banks (Sandra) and Danny Banks, and her sister, Carolyn Banks, will carry forward her memory in their hearts. Her beautiful grandchildren - Bo Newton, Saylie Newton, Nevaeh Holliwell, Kinsley Miles, as well as Jakobe Greer and Milani Greer, along with their brother, Bryson, will all continue to be inspired by her love and guidance, as well as several nieces and nephews.

As an alumna of Davy Crockett High School, Brenda was a lifelong resident of Washington County and had spent most of her life in Boones Creek. Her career with the Washington County Sheriff's Department epitomized her sense of civic duty and her commitment to serving others. After many years with the Sheriff's Department, Brenda found joy and fulfillment in working as a caregiver, offering comfort and companionship to those in her charge.

As a member of the Baptist faith, she manifested her beliefs through her actions and her unwavering support of her community. Her talent for creating crafts brought joy not only to Brenda but also to those fortunate enough to receive her handmade gifts. Brenda loved life with an infectious energy that drew people to her, and she lived each day with a zest that was both enviable and inspirational.
